Alissa Alfonso’s Styled Shoot

As you may know, the Humane Society of Broward County is thrilled to have a feeding partnership with Purina, so all the dogs and cats at the shelter are fortunate to benefit from it.

This month local Hollywood artist Alissa Alfonso wanted to pay tribute to Purina and include them in her stylized photoshoot.  Shelter staff saved dog and cat food bags and Alissa created oversized mushrooms with them to create a fairy land backdrop.  Alissa photographed 17 dogs outside at the base of a beautiful Poinsettia tree located at the shelter.  Some dogs curled right up in the large tree roots and others sniffed the mushrooms – they still smelled like pet food.

Once the dogs were photographed it was time to move into the cat area where Alissa draped a beautiful hand painted picturesque forest scene.  Two cats, twelve kittens and five rabbits each had a chance to meander through the mushrooms.  Some felines even enjoyed sitting on the giant mushroom that was constructed with Purina bags, a basket and an old lamp shade.

According to Cherie Wachter, VP of Marketing at the HSBC,  “Each month when Alissa visits, our staff and volunteers are always excited to see what she has created for her stylized photo session.  These photos showcase some of the pets we have who are wishing for their Fairy Tail endings.  A huge thanks also to volunteers Sara Sears and Kim McColl for getting the furry models to sit still.”
