Happy National Pet Day!
JR Dunn’s Diamond in the Ruff
This week’s JR Dunn Jeweler’s Diamond in the Ruff is a truly spectacular animal that would make a great pet for anyone: Snow (ID 548495).

About the “Diamond in the Ruff” Series:
Longtime Humane Society of Broward County supporter J.R. Dunn Jewelers will be helping to create true love – by sponsoring pet adoptions so that more dogs and cats can find happy homes. The program is called “Diamond in the Ruff,” and who knows diamonds better than J.R. Dunn?
J.R. Dunn will feature a pet each week and will underwrite the entire adoption fee for that dog, puppy, cat or kitten. Diamond in the Ruff will be promoted through J.R. Dunn’s local radio spots and social media, and the HSBC will do its share of promotion as well. What a fabulous way to put their money where their heart is, and to bring attention to all the amazing dogs and cats that are so ready to be loved. Furry little diamonds in the rough – just waiting for their “perfect setting!”
Be sure to visit J.R. Dunn’s facebook page each week to see who the featured pet is and you might just find your next family member. Of course to meet the pet, contact the Humane Society of Broward County at 954-266-6839.
The Humane Society of Broward County is a private, non-profit organization supported by donations from people and companies that want to make a difference for the animals in our community. The shelter is not affiliated with any local or national organization with a similar name and has only one location on Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale.
Family-owned-and-operated J.R. Dunn Jewelers has been in business for more than 46 years. Specializing in diamonds, designer jewelry and fine Swiss timepieces. Two generations work side by side to bring the best in selection and customer service to South Florida at the 8,000-square-foot showroom in Lighthouse Point. National Volunteer Week
As we mentioned yesterday, this week is National Volunteer Week! To show our appreciation for the over 500 volunteers that dedicate their time and energy to this organization, everyday this week we’re highlighting volunteers from different positions from within the organization.
Today we feature two of our PALs… Petting, Attention, and Love Volunteers, that is!
Position: Cat PAL
Years of Service: 1 year, 5 months
As a Cat PAL, Terrie has been trained to help meet the emotional and social needs of the animals in our shelter by providing a one-on-one interaction with the cats in a cattery.
Thank you Terrie, and all of our Cat PALS, for care you give each one of our kitties!
Position: Dog PAL
Years of Service: 2 years, 2 months
As a Dog PAL, Wendy has been trained to help meet the emotional and social needs of the animals in our shelter by providing a one-on-one interaction with the dogs in a kennel.
Thank you Wendy, and all of our Dog PALS, for the love and attention you give our canine companions.
Celebrate National Pets Day in a BIG Way!
Happy National Pet Day, everyone! We hope you enjoy cuddling and spoiling your animals a little bit MORE today than usual! Here at the shelter, we’re celebrating this day in a BIG way. Steve Harmon, from BIG 105.9FM’s Paul and Young Ron Show, made a visit to the shelter this past weekend to spend some time with our furry friends.
To view all of the photos from the day, as well as to read all about Steve and his ongoing relationship with our shelter, please visit the BIG 105.9 “Steve Harmon’s Real Housepets of South Florida” page, here.
