In this harsh Florida heat, no one wants to be outside for long, much less animals… but for poor Jon Jon this was the case. Jon Jon (ID 578108) is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever who lived with his owner for two years outside in the backyard. Naturally, Jon Jon started trying to find shelter and shade around the neighborhood, disgruntling his owner who ultimately turned him in. He just needed a place to cool off!

Diamond in the Ruff: Jon Jon

Thankfully Jon Jon is cool and well-cared for here, but he’s ready for his second shot at happiness. Jon Jon has won over our hearts and has proved his kind nature with all our camp kids. In his kennel, he sits with the very iconic “Shelter Dog” look on his face, but he thoroughly enjoys his playtime with our staff, volunteers, and especially the campers!

Jon Jon, like many of our pets, is searching for the very best home that he cuddle up on the couch with and live the spoiled life! His adoption fee would normally be $100, but with the generosity of JR Dunn Jewelers’, Jon Jon is now a Diamond in the Ruff so his adoption fee is waived!!

About the “Diamond in the Ruff” Series:

Longtime Humane Society of Broward County supporter J.R. Dunn Jewelers will be helping to create true love – by sponsoring pet adoptions so that more dogs and cats can find happy homes. The program is called “Diamond in the Ruff,” and who knows diamonds better than J.R. Dunn?

J.R. Dunn will feature a pet each week and will underwrite the entire adoption fee for that dog, puppy, cat or kitten in the Humane Society of Broward County’s Adoption Ambassador program. Diamond in the Ruff will be promoted through J.R. Dunn’s local radio spots and social media, and the HSBC will do its share of promotion as well. What a fabulous way to put their money where their heart is, and to bring attention to all the amazing dogs and cats that are so ready to be loved. Furry little diamonds in the rough – just waiting for their “perfect setting!”

Be sure to visit J.R. Dunn’s facebook page each week to see who the featured pet is and you might just find your next family member. Of course to meet the pet, contact the Humane Society of Broward County at 954-266-6839.
