Puppies are often the first to find loving homes in any animal shelter. Thankfully this was the case for Layla A578701, a 5 month old Harrier Mix. She was able to find her home after only two days of arriving from Puerto Rico. She was very loved by this family; she had lots of toys and treats and plenty of play time with their son. Unfortunately, this little boy developed severe allergies to her and his parents had to make the gut-wrenching decision to bring her back.
When she came back to the shelter, poor Layla was petrified. She became very nervous around staff and volunteers and didn’t like the hustle and bustle of shelter life. Layla found her second chance through HSBC’s Adoption Ambassador, a program designed for animals that do not house well in shelter life to stay at a home while the family works on getting the pet adopted.
Allowing Layla to become part of the program was just what she needed. She has become a happy, playful girl in her Ambassador home and is now looking to permanently complete a new family. Layla is now a “Diamond in the Ruff,” an adoption sponsorship program made possible by JR Dunn Jewelers!
About the “Diamond in the Ruff” Series:
Longtime Humane Society of Broward County supporter J.R. Dunn Jewelers will be helping to create true love – by sponsoring pet adoptions so that more dogs and cats can find happy homes. The program is called “Diamond in the Ruff,” and who knows diamonds better than J.R. Dunn?
J.R. Dunn will feature a pet each week and will underwrite the entire adoption fee for that dog, puppy, cat or kitten in the Humane Society of Broward County’s Adoption Ambassador program. Diamond in the Ruff will be promoted through J.R. Dunn’s local radio spots and social media, and the HSBC will do its share of promotion as well. What a fabulous way to put their money where their heart is, and to bring attention to all the amazing dogs and cats that are so ready to be loved. Furry little diamonds in the rough – just waiting for their “perfect setting!”
Be sure to visit J.R. Dunn’s facebook page each week to see who the featured pet is and you might just find your next family member. Of course to meet the pet, contact the Humane Society of Broward County at 954-266-6839.
