You all know Black Friday… Cyber Monday is also incredibly popular… but have you heard of Giving Tuesday?
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
The funds we raise through #GivingTuesday goes straight to the animals in our care, like Pash and Pilvi above. They’re 15 week old kittens who have been in our shelter since October. Your contributions allow us to help as many as we do!
One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community, but of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to a monetary donation!
#GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.
As you know, you can always donate pet supplies, and we have an Amazon Wishlist which lists miscellaneous items we need around the shelter. Or, you can just send a nice letter to cheer up the animals – like Ms. Tarantola’s first grade class did last week! Click on any of the letters to enlarge.
No matter whether or not you are able to donate, YOU are the most important part of making this movement a reality. We hope you are able to support your favorite cause, or simply send a Tweet or Facebook post to help promote it!
