Updated for Irma on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00pm: IMPORTANT UPDATE! Two additional Pet Friendly Shelters have opened.
(1) Everglades High School at 17100 SW 48 Court, Miramar.
(2) Parkside Elementary School at 10257 NW 29th Street, Coral Springs.

If you have already pre-registered for the Pet Friendly Shelter at Millenium Middle School (submitted paperwork and supporting documents), NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE, you can still seek there, but PLEASE BRING A CRATE FOR YOUR ANIMAL. We may not be able to let you in without one.

All others who have not already registered at Millenium Middle School should seek shelter either at Everglades High School or Parkside Elementary School.

For those who will be taking shelter at our Pet Friendly Shelter, please note the following.

Please bring with you:

  • Valid proof of residence.
  • Valid proof of rabies vaccination and license tag for your pets.
  • The name, address and phone number of your veterinarian.

If you go to a Red Cross shelter, plan to take:

• Flashlight
• Extra batteries
• Medicine
• Snacks
• Baby food
• Diapers
• Blankets or sleeping bags
• Cot and pillows
• Identification
• Photocopies of valuable papers

• Playing cards
• Games
• Books
• Eyeglasses
• Hearing aids
• Dentures
• Special-diet foods
• Toiletries
• First-aid kit

Contact the Humane Society of Broward County at 954.989.3977, early during hurricane season to determine if any space is still available.

OTHER COUNTY PET FRIENDLY SHELTERS
Palm Beach County provides a pet friendly shelter at the West Boynton Recreation Center. Pre-registration is required by calling 561.233.1266

The Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach has space available. Pre-registration is required by calling 561.472.8874

Miami-Dade County provides pet friendly shelters at the Sunshine Pavilion at the CountyFairground and at Highland Oaks Middle School in North Miami Beach. Pre-registration is required by calling the Miami Date Animal Services Department. Residents may call 311
