Did you know that black-furred cats and dogs can spend almost 4 times as long in shelters than their lighter-furred buds? Maybe black animals don’t stand out in the kennels as well, or perhaps their cuteness is harder to capture in photographs… Whatever the reason, we work extra-hard to get our ebony animals into loving homes who appreciate their dusky appearance.

Thankfully today is a special day in which we can celebrate the raven-furred felines in your life.

Black Cat Appreciation Day was launched to show people that a black cat could be the perfect cat for them, and help raise awareness about black cats in general. We currently have DOZENS of raven-furred felines in our shelter, and since it’s BLACK CAT APPRECIATION DAY, all black-furred cats adopted today are automatically enrolled in our Black Velvet Club. Why not stop by and say “hi” to your next furry friend?

BTW: What is the Black Velvet Club you may ask? Simply put, it helps beautiful black animals get adopted. By adopting either a black, dog, puppy, kitten, cat or rabbit, here’s what you get!

  • 1/2 off basic dog obedience or puppy preschool class.
  • An extra 10% off in the Humane Society Pet Boutique.
