This month local Hollywood artist (and HSBC Photography Volunteer) Alissa Alfonso stopped by the shelter to photograph another recycled-materials #StyledShoot.

This series, titled “Furry Flora and Fauna,” was inspired by South Florida Springtime. Our adoptable pups were adorned with handmade butterfly headbands, and they were surrounded by leaves and branches from local plant life.

Thank you so much for all of your efforts so far, and we hope these lovely, adorable photos help to remind you of all of the lives you’re saving by attending our Walk and supporting our shelter.

April 573712

2 years old, female
April is a shy gal, but don’t worry – she warms up quickly. This gentle lady is loving and sweet. Her favorite things are treats and snuggles. She would do best with a patient family who has time to train her.

Brandi 572084

2 years old, female
If you’re looking for a 35lb lap dog, look no further than Brandi. This shy gal warms up quickly with just a couple cuddles and treats. She is a GREAT dog that loves people. She could benefit from some basic training, but she’ll repay you in kisses and snuggles.

Coquito 573715

2 years old, male
Coquito is a super-sweet boy that loves affection. He would be a great family dog for anyone. He is moderately energetic and could use a little bit of basic training, but he loves peanut butter-flavored treats and takes them gently (which should make training a breeze).

Dana 574206

2 years old, female
Dana is one laid-back girl that would do just about anything for a belly rub. She is incredibly gentle and loving, and she would do well with any family. All she needs is some basic training.

Gillian 569045

5 years old, female
“I was rescued from a South Korean meat farm where I was going to be slaughtered and served as food. I did not know what it is like to have toys, walk on a leash or cuddle in a bed. I need a family who has a lot of patience and is willing to work with me. The volunteers and staff have been working with me and am making great progress. I walk on a leash now and like to be petted. I still might get startled easily, but with time and lots of TLC I hope to know what it is like to be loved. If you have the time to devote to me, please visit the Humane Society of Broward County and complete an application for adoption.”

King 573865

5 years old, male
We absolutely love this goofy guy! Not only is he housebroken (he goes out 1x a day and paws at the door when he needs to go out), but he is so well-behaved that he can have free roam of the house when left alone. He is great with other dogs and LOVES people. King is such a sweet boy!

Luisa 573841

1.5 years old, female
Luisa is a sweet and SMART girl. Although she’s still learning the basics of potty-training, she learned “sit” and “shake” in practically no time. Luisa loves to be active, adores treats, and her favorite toy is her rubber ball. Plus, she’s been known to enjoy a snuggle or two.

Odd Ball 573262

4 years old, male
Odd Ball is a total sweetie. He loves everyone and everything (kids, cats, other dogs… you name it!). He used to be an outside-only dog, so he will need some basic training to adopt to indoor life. This guy could never be a couch potato, though. He is very playful and would be a great family dog.

Scotty 572648

2 years old, male
“Are you looking for a fun-loving fellow to be part of your family? If so…please adopt me. I came from a shelter where not many go to adopt, so I’m hoping my luck will change here. The volunteer trainers say I’m active, sweet and know some basic commands already. I’m attentive and eager to learn more and would love to go to doggie school with you. I might not be a tiny little pup, but I have a lot of love to share and hope you will give me a chance. I will do best with an active family who is ready to go on new adventures with me. Can I be your new BFF?

I am a Dolly’s Dream dog. Adopt me and my adoption fee is sponsored thanks to Dolly’s Dream. This program helps bully breed dogs, like me. I come with a crate, collar and leash, ID, bed, chew toys, walking harness and more – all to get me settled in my new home. Call the adoption desk at 954-989-3977 ext. 6 for details.”

Yashira 573003

2 years old, female
Not only is Yashira a total cutie-pie, she’s one smart cookie, too. Although she had no training prior to arriving at our shelter, she has already learned “sit” and “paw.” Plus, she walks GREAT on a leash, which is good because this happy girl loves to run.
