After all the devastation that Hurricane Irma reeked upon the Sunshine State, Florida is now beginning to come back. There are still a lot of orphaned animals looking for homes, pre- and post-hurricane. For Raphael (ID 578191) and Louie (ID 578189), two 7-year-old cat brothers, their troubles started long before.

Back in June 2017, they lived with their human mom and many other siblings in the house they grew up in. Unfortunately, there was a fire and the family lost everything, including the lives of some of their siblings. Their mom made the decision to place the remaining cats up for adoption, knowing that if she couldn’t care for herself she couldn’t care for them. Louie and Raphael were two of the first cats HSBC accepted and they quickly won over the staff with how friendly and charming they were. They watched as all their other siblings were adopted and they became the last two left. They are bonded heart and soul, and we are seeking a family that would want to adopt them together.

Currently, this duo has been hired as Office Cats, a program at HSBC that allows businesses to house an adoptable cat while having some much-needed employee cuddling. Meowington’s, a cat-inspired online retailer store, has accepted them, and they are having a blast in their cat condo. But they are still in need of a loving family!

Louie is our Diamond in the Ruff where his adoption fee will be waived thanks to JR Dunn Jewelers, but if you adopt Raphael too, the HSBC will also waive the adoption fee for Raphael! If you are interested in meeting them, please contact 954-989-3977.

About the “Diamond in the Ruff” Series:

Longtime Humane Society of Broward County supporter J.R. Dunn Jewelers will be helping to create true love – by sponsoring pet adoptions so that more dogs and cats can find happy homes. The program is called “Diamond in the Ruff,” and who knows diamonds better than J.R. Dunn?

J.R. Dunn will feature a pet each week and will underwrite the entire adoption fee for that dog, puppy, cat or kitten in the Humane Society of Broward County’s Adoption Ambassador program. Diamond in the Ruff will be promoted through J.R. Dunn’s local radio spots and social media, and the HSBC will do its share of promotion as well. What a fabulous way to put their money where their heart is, and to bring attention to all the amazing dogs and cats that are so ready to be loved. Furry little diamonds in the rough – just waiting for their “perfect setting!”

Be sure to visit J.R. Dunn’s facebook page each week to see who the featured pet is and you might just find your next family member. Of course to meet the pet, contact the Humane Society of Broward County at 954-266-6839.
