Students & Teachers
Book Pals is our newest program that welcomes children ages 5-15 years to register for this 3-month reading program, hosted here at the Humane Society of Broward County.
An exclusive partnership with the Broward County Libraries and the School Board of Broward County, the Wags & Tales program provides a non-judgmental audience for students experiencing difficulty with reading. Participants learn how to be safe around animals as well as what a loving friend, a dog, can be as they improve their reading skills.
The success of the Humane Society of Broward County Wags & Tales program has led to the creation of a new program at the shelter called Purrs & Tales. In the Purrs & Tales program children will have a chance to come to the shelter and read to our adoptable cats.
