#ShelterSuccessStory: Microchips Save Lives

Dalya adopted handsome Phoenix in June 2015 when he was just a few months old.  In September he slipped out the door when no one was looking and she frantically searched for him.  Dalya did everything to find Phoenix: She put up flyers, visited shelters, and alerted neighbors, but he was nowhere to be found.

Fast forward 6 months later and someone who found a cat and was caring for him, brought the fluffy black kitty to our mobile spay/neuter unit to be fixed. Upon examining the handsome feline, it was discovered he was neutered and had a microchip. We traced the microchip to Dalya and she immediately came to the Humane Society of Broward County to pick up her long-lost friend.

Microchips help save lives. If your pet has a chip, please make sure it is registered with your current information.  Need a chip? Call our vaccine department to schedule an appointment at 954-266-6858. Microchips are just $20.

We can’t thank you enough for participating in the 2016 Walk for the Animals. Because of you, and others like you, this year’s Walk raised over $515,000 and donations are still coming in! That means that our facility will be able to help even MORE animals.

Don’t forget that you can continue to fundraise and turn in donations until April 30, 2016. All of the features of your personal fundraising page will continue to be available until that date as well, so make sure to login and say thank you to all your donors.

Did you receive more donations after the Walk? Not to worry, you can still drop off cash and check donations here at the Shelter or mail them in a clearly marked envelope to: Humane Society of Broward County, ATTN: Walk For the Animals, 2070 Griffin Rd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
