With the support of social media, the dedicated staff of the Humane Society of Broward County, their Adoption Ambassadors and an extremely enthusiastic adopter, Hank the Plott hound went home for the holidays! He celebrated a real white Christmas at his new home near Grand Rapids, Michigan.

When Dan Vinson had to say goodbye to Linq, his beloved Plott hound, he asked a breed-specific Facebook group for help in rescuing another. An HSBC employee and Plott parent saw Dan’s plea and posted a picture of Hank, a shy 10-month-old with a heart of gold. He just happened to look like Dan’s previous dog!

Dan inquired about the pup, and the wheels started turning in an attempt to get Hank to a new home.

How Hank Got to Michigan

It was too cold for air travel and too much distance for rescue networks to handle. So, Dan decided to make the more than 50-hour round trip to drive to Fort Lauderdale and adopt Hank. (Dan also got to go to the beach for the first time!)

Hank now lives in a Plott hound’s paradise – with hundreds of farm acres to explore. He’s quickly taken to the cold weather and enjoys romps along snowy trails with his dad. Life is good!
