We often get visitors at our shelter who come with absolutely no intention to adopt. Whether they are just dropping off donations, want to give some treats to our adoptable pets, or simply want to see who is looking for a home – people come all the time just to support the pets! Think of it as “window shopping.”

Well, that’s exactly what Carolina was up to one day in 2016. As you will read below, her beloved dog had just passed away, and she was not ready to even think about taking a new furry friend home. However, she thought that looking at other dogs might help to raise her spirits. Turns out, she was right!

When I arrived to the shelter I arrived heartbroken as my beautiful Schnauzer had lost her battle with cancer a few months prior. I was just going to see the dogs to cheer up.

As I was about to leave, a staff member from the shelter jokingly told me that I was breaking the shelter rules by leaving empty-handed. I explained what I needed and he told me he wanted to show me a dog, but that the dog came with a catch. I was worried thinking the dog was sick or injured… but it turned out to be two very close sisters in need of a home!

They came to the front of the cage, and from that moment on they have been my babies. Lillie and Violet gave me back the joy and happiness I had lost with the death of Emily. They are super sweet, smart and loving.

BTW: the photo is their transformation from the day I got them to now.
