Sometimes some dogs come to the shelter who aren’t quite ready to find a forever home. Maybe they’re a little too anxious, or maybe they need to learn a few manners in order to assimilate into home-life.

That’s exactly what happened with spunky Sabo. He came to us largely untrained. Thankfully he benefitted from spending time with our Junior Dog Trainers who worked with him to perfect his manners.

You can read more about the Junior Dog Training Program here, but first be sure to read how well this smart boy is doing… now that he’s ADOPTED!

Shelter Success Story: Sabo Shelter Success Story: Sabo

My name is April and I adopted Sabo on April 10, 2018. I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! The lady and gentleman at the shelter that assisted me were amazing… helpful, knowledgeable and great with the introductions of me and my family to the dog.

Sabo, now Tiger, is by far the best dog I have ever had! He is housebroken, knows sit, stay, lay down, come, and look at me. He walks right by my knee when on the leash, and he acclimated to his new home instantly.

He has even fallen in love with my 10-year-old daughter and sleeps by her side, if not basically on top of her, every night. He loves cuddles and kisses, and will come and sit on my lap if I sit on the sofa, like he is a 5lb lap dog! At 49lbs of muscle, it’s not the most comfortable way to hang out on the sofa, but I love it and allow it.

He is the sweetest thing ever and we LOVE him! I cannot say enough about what a wonderful dog he is.

Thank you again for your assistance with the adoption. We LOVE him and know how lucky we are to have gotten such a gem!
April R.
