End of Life & Cremation Services

Most of us treat our pets as part of our families. That’s why when we’re faced with the decision of whether or not to euthanize our pet, it becomes a heart-wrenching experience. Many people seek their veterinarian’s advice and ask them when the time is right. How do you know? How can you be sure you are making the right decision? Your veterinarian can help you figure out if your pet is in pain and how to keep your pet as comfortable as possible. But there are a few questions that only you can answer. You know what things your pet normally likes to do. Does your pet love to go for car rides, play with the kids or get special treats? Is your pet excited about any of these things anymore? If the answer is no, you need to consider your pet’s quality of life. For example, most pets enjoy eating. Lack of appetite accompanied by weight loss in a sick animal is a serious indication that something is wrong. We are never ready to say goodbye to our beloved animal but when we put our pet first, and ourselves second, the decision to do what is best for them becomes much easier.

Euthanasia Services

The staff at the Humane Society of Broward County are here to assist you with this difficult process. If you would like the Humane Society to perform the euthanasia for you, we do ask for $75 to cover our cost for the procedure.

Proof of ownership for your pet is required in order to provide euthanasia services. Acceptable forms of ownership are veterinarian/medical or vaccine records, proof of purchase or adoption records in the name of the legal owner. The legal owner of the pet must also be present. Please keep in mind that owners are unavailable to be with their pet during the procedure; however, they are welcome to wait and speak to the Vet Tech once the procedure is done.
