The Humane Society of Broward County firmly believes that animals have positive impacts on the lives of humans. It is this belief that has led to the inception of the AAT Program. Animal Assisted Therapy offers enormous benefits to people and ensures that they will live richer and fuller lives by just being a part of this program.
In an effort to stay connected with our community, provide comfort and support, our volunteers and their therapy animals are able to offer both in-person visits and virtually connect with your patients, residents, clients, and staff via TeleTherapy visits. TeleTherapy visits will be conducted using either the WebEx, Zoom or FaceTime platform.
There is no cost for this program but donations are always appreciated.
If your facility is not ready for in person visits yet, TeleTherapy visits can greatly benefit the residents, patients and healthcare providers in your facility. Please consider what you would like the program to achieve and how you envision achieving this goal. The process of coordinating the matching of AAT volunteers to a facility may take some time. We ask that you be patient during this time. Once we have a volunteer team available your facility will be notified.
Beginning a program at your facility requires advanced planning. The first step is to fill out the In-person Visit or TeleTherapy Request Form which will advise us of your interest and provide the additional information we need to get your facility registered and set up for our program. After the form has been received, a member of our staff will be in touch with you to coordinate the therapy visiting schedule.
