About

WATCH MY VIDEO...Even though 3-year-old Iris gets lots of love from our staff and volunteers, she is still waiting for her forever home. This beautiful girl came into our shelter last month as a stray, but sadly no-one came in looking for her. We don’t know anything about this sweet girl’s past, but we can see that she’s had her share of puppies. When Iris arrived, she wasn’t feeling very well. Not only did she test positive for heartworm illness, but she was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. Luckily, she’s been treated by our veterinary clinic and is now showing us her true personality. Iris is an extra sweet velcro-dog who is always happy to see us and gives lots of tail wags. She loves to be petted and will put her paws on you to ask for more pets. She doesn’t show one sign of aggression towards people, however, she does require a mandatory meet and greet with other dogs because she is very selective about her canine friends. Iris still has some puppy playfulness inside her. She will chase toys, but not put them in her mouth. She knows sit without asking, and down to some degree. Iris walks well on leash and appears to be housetrained. She also loves getting treats! Her heartworm treatments are being provided by our clinic for free and usually take about 3 months to complete. Can you be Iris’ best friend forever? If you can’t adopt, please share for Iris. If she sounds like she might be a good fit for you, please fill out a pre-adoption application at humanebroward.com and come to the shelter to meet her. The shelter is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL and opens daily at 11 a.m. If you have any questions, please call 954-989-3977.
