Animal Assisted Therapy
Thank you for your interest in the HSBC’s Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) program. The AAT program uses volunteers and their companion animals to provide social therapy to comfort children and adults with special needs or those experiencing life’s stresses. They serve as catalysts for social interaction and as bridges to interpersonal communication and attachment. It’s no wonder people love their pets so much!
Our AAT teams will be following CDC protocol concerning Covid-19. We are now able to provide in-person services again, but will continue to offer virtual options as well.
Additional virtual services:
Teletherapy for facilities
Teletherapy options are currently available for existing facilities, hospitals, senior centers, school, daycares, enrolled in our Animal Assisted Therapy program. We encourage new facilities and organizations to join us. TeleTherapy is currently being offered in addition to physical onsite visits.
These TeleTherapy visits will aim to provide social interaction, storytelling, dog tricks and an opportunity for participants to learn more about our volunteers and their therapy pet.Learn more
Zoomies for personal occasions and businesses
During these difficult times, our AAT team has gone virtual. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, a graduation or attending your next company meeting, the Humane Society’s Animal Assisted Therapy team is ready to add a little paws-itivity to your video conference.
For a minimum donation of $25, we’ll drop in on your next video call for a maximum of 10 minutes.
Just tell us about your online get together and we’ll schedule an animal to attend. Click below to learn more about our Zoomies program.
