Dolly’s Dream

In the Winter 2016 Paw Prints we introduced Dolly’s Dream Project funded by the Levitetz Family Foundation. The project covers the cost for spay/neuter surgery for American Staffordshire terriers and mixes and helps with surrender prevention.

Dolly’s Dream has expanded and now they are underwriting the adoption fee of select bully breed dogs. In addition to underwriting the fee, they will cover the costs for the basic items that the dog will need to succeed in their new home. This includes a training crate, Sensation harness or No-Pull harness, chew toys, collar, ID tag, leash, training treat bag and basic dishes. If necessary, they will also cover the cost of obedience classes here at the Humane Society of Broward County.

Each week there will be two dogs featured who are part of the Dolly’s Dream Project and a sign is on their kennel door so potential adopters know about the offer.

Meet Our Current Dolly’s Dream Dogs

Kit Kat (ID 690791)

Kit Kat is shy here at the shelter but give her some time to warm up and she will be your BFF.  Her former owner only had great things to say about this beauty, who is just over a year old. Sadly, they gave her up when they lost their home and had no place to live.  They wanted her to have a stable, loving family. According to the profile left, Kit Kat is a friendly, affectionate, and happy girl who loves attention and cuddles. She is good with dogs, kids, and adults, and thrives on human interaction.

Kit Kat is deaf, so she needs a patient adopter who can go slow and gentle while communicating with her. She is very curious, loves rope toys, enjoys tug-of-war, and has a fondness for soft, meaty treats and plastic toys. Despite her size, she still thinks she’s a puppy—she’s hyper, playful, and full of energy. This   cutie is ready for a loving home that can match her enthusiasm and give her the attention she adores.

Thanks to Dolly’s Dream, they have kindly paid her adoption fee.

Gertrude ID 710179

Those eyes. Gertrude is six years old, housebroken, and full of love, yet she has been passed from shelter to shelter since September, still waiting for someone to finally choose her for good. She adores her stuffy toys, loves being close to her people, and has the biggest heart, even after so much uncertainty. This gal doesn’t act her age and will fetch with a ball or stuffy endlessly.

She can be strong on the leash and will need someone willing to guide her, but what Gertrude needs most is a family who will not give up on her again. She deserves a warm home, a soft toy to carry around, and a place where she can finally feel safe and stay forever. Can she be your new BFF?

Thanks to Dolly’s Dream they have kindly paid her adoption fee and she gets to go on a shopping spree in the shelter’s Pet Boutique to pick out all the toys she wants.
