WATCH MY VIDEO...5-year-old Mary Poppins is our shelter’s longest resident. She’s watched so many dogs around her leave with their new families, but sadly, it’s never been her turn. So, we decided to treat this sweet girl to a dream day out of the shelter, including a VIP visit to the Florida Panthers’ IcePlex…and she was so happy! Thanks to MVP no. 9 Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers and his Benny’s Buddies organization, Mary’s adoption fee has been paid for. Every time Sam scores a goal, a pet at the shelter benefits! Mary lost her home when her family’s landlord would no longer allow her to stay. Now she’s also dealing with skin allergies, which are made worse by life in the shelter. It’s been a lot for one sweet girl Even with everything she’s been through, Mary is still so loving. She loves people, comes when she’s called, enjoys being pet, and is always happy to be around her favorite humans. She is a favorite among our staff and volunteers for a reason. Mary enjoys toys, treats, walks, and just being part of whatever you’re doing. She can be selective with other dogs…she’s not aggressive, but she can be dominant in her play, so a dog meet is required just to make sure their energies match. Her experience with children and cats is unknown. Her allergies are being treated, and with a loving indoor home and routine veterinary care, she can live a happy, comfortable life. Now all she needs is someone to give her the chance she deserves. If you can’t adopt, please share. Someone out there is looking for a dog just like Mary… they just haven’t found her yet. To adopt a friend for life, the Humane Society of Broward County requires you to pay fees based on the age and number of animals you are adopting.
